What data does The Rainforest Company collect from you?

  1. Collection and use of non-personal (anonymous) data for system-internal and statistical purposes
    When accessing our website, your Internet browser automatically transmits data (e.g. date and time of access, URL (address) of the referring website, retrieved file, amount of data sent, browser type and version, operating system, IP address) to our server for technical reasons.

    If you do not enter any data when using our website, the retrieval of information from our website is anonymous for you.

  2. Collection and use of personal data
  • Data for contract fulfilment: We only collect and use personal data (e.g. name, e-mail address) if you enter this data in an input field on our website or send it to us by e-mail. The stored personal data will be used for contract processing and processing of your inquiries.   • Product Rating: The Rainforest Company offers you the possibility to rate the articles offered on the website (customer ratings). Your customer rating will be published anonymously or under the name (or nickname) you enter in the form field provided. In order to submit a customer rating, you must also provide a valid e-mail address. This e-mail address is only used to contact you if you have any questions about your rating. This e-mail address will not be published and will not be passed on to third parties.

    If you have registered for an account with The Rainforest Company, you have the option of deleting the rating from your account at any time. To do this, you must be logged into your account before submitting your review.

    The customer rating can be published in all online shops of The Rainforest Company Deutschland GmbH and its subsidiaries.

    The information and contact data you provide will be used to contact you when you contact us, to communicate about it and to process your enquiry.

    3. Geo-Localization

    By means of geo-localization it is technically possible to limit the location of the Internet user by means of the IP address. So that you can immediately see the offers and articles of The Rainforest Company Shop closest to where you live, your IP address is collected and used for the purpose of geo-localization. The IP address is not stored beyond the end of the usage process for the purpose of geo-localization.

In which cases do third parties have access to your data?

1) Forwarding for order processing

To the extent necessary to perform the contract with you, we also commission other companies and individuals to perform tasks for The Rainforest Company. An example of this is the commissioned transport company, which receives your contact data (e.g. name, address, telephone number, e-mail address) in addition to your order information for this purpose.

Furthermore, we use service providers for so-called fulfillment services. This includes, for example, order acceptance, order picking, packaging, shipping, cancellation processing or returns management. These service providers also receive your order and contact data.

If you have ordered an installation together with your purchase, we will pass on your order and contact details to the appropriate installer or manufacturer, who will then coordinate the installation dates and the delivery of the houses for us.

We also offer shipment tracking, which allows you to check the current status of your shipment at any time.

In some cases we also use service providers for hardware maintenance, software maintenance and the provision of technical services, which may then come into contact with your data.

The aforementioned service providers only receive access to such personal information that is necessary for the performance of the respective activity. These service providers are prohibited from using your personal information for any other purpose. To the extent required by law, we have entered into contractual agreements with these service providers to protect your personal information.

2)  Passing on for payment processing

We pass on your payment data to the commissioned credit institution or the respective payment service provider within the framework of the processing of payments. If you have registered as a customer with your customer account, you have the option of storing a payment method for further purchases (activation of express payment) and thus accelerate future ordering processes. In this case, the payment service provider stores your data in encrypted form for future orders, so that no further data entry is required for subsequent orders.

You can undo or change this setting at any time in your customer account under "My data".

3)  Passing on for the transmission of advertising material

We pass on your data to external service providers for the transmission of advertising material. Your data will not be passed on to third parties for external advertising purposes.

4)  Passing on to public bodies or by court order

By order of the responsible authorities, we must in individual cases provide information about personal data (inventory data), insofar as this is necessary for the purposes of criminal prosecution, for averting dangers, for fulfilling the statutory duties of the constitutional protection authorities or the Military Counter-Intelligence Service or for enforcing intellectual property rights.

5)  Social Plugins

We do not integrate social plugins into our website in order to protect your privacy when visiting our website. We have only included graphic links from social network providers (e.g. in our website. This means that it is not possible for your browser to establish a direct connection with the server of the social network provider. The Rainforest Company Deutschland GmbH assumes no liability for the data protection guidelines and procedures of the linked sites.

6)  Web analysis

In order to constantly improve and optimize the content of our site and the user-friendliness, we use analysis technologies from Webtrends Inc. with the product "Webtrends Analytics" and Google Inc. with the product "AdWords Conversion Tracking". The session and interaction data of the website visitors are collected and statistically evaluated. Cookies are used for this purpose. The session and interaction data are not processed at any time in personal form, but exclusively anonymously.

Sometimes analysis data is transferred to a server of the respective analysis service in a member state of the EU or outside the EU (e.g. in the USA) and stored. The information may be transferred to third parties if this is legally permissible or if third parties process this data on behalf of our service provider. What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files which are stored by your browser and serve to make the website more user-friendly, effective and secure. Cookies do not damage your computer and do not contain viruses. You can prevent the installation of cookies by setting your browser software accordingly.

Our online presence uses such cookies. The cookies used do not collect any personal data about you. In particular, the cookies save settings selected by you such as the currently active user account, the shopping basket or the shopping list. We also use cookies for statistical purposes. What does The Rainforest Company do for data security?

Our website and the associated IT systems are protected by technical and organizational measures against access and modification of your data by unauthorized persons as well as against loss and destruction.

With our website you communicate exclusively encrypted, so that the transfer of personal data is protected. You recognize the encryption by a "closed lock" in the status bar of your browser.
